50HR & 100HR OPTIONS – WINTER ONLINE TRAINING SCHEDULE

Join us this winter in an intimate online school setting for one or both educational modules (both are 50Hr training options for teachers but all are welcome). Class size varies in these more intimate school settings, but are small enough that you provides a sense of structure, rhythm and community. I have been surprised how connected it still feels online. All courses are recorded. I will provide you with a link to access classes up to six months post-trainings if you miss a class.

Please note, for full certification, there are elements of attendance, quizzes on the weekend and online practicums to ensure you are engaged and learning. If you do not want to be certified, this isn’t necessary.

Dec/Jan, weekends only, 8-1pm PST, 50HR Meditation, Neuroscience (+Nidra) Training: Exact dates below and brief outline below. This is a new course integrating meditation with principles of neuroscience 101 and the benefits of nidra (deep rest) will be an add-on as well. This is a multiple weekend only course, 8am-1pm. There are several dates around Christmas and NYE where there is no class. You can join in person or watch recordings. It is encourage you join LIVE as much as possible.

I am deep in neuroscience studies and have found that there is a profound amount of research and science behind meditation, breath and deep rest. We will explore how different traditions/luminaries teach meditation and varying methods, understand some of the workings with what is happening biologically/physically in the brain and body, as well as the barriers to the practice. We will practice deeply together to collect our own data and 50hr research project. We will examine variables of stress, research in the field as well as yogic teachings.

Feb 1-28, Mon-Fri, 12-230pm PST, 50HR Pranayama & Respiratory Sciences Training: This will be a third-run of the Pranayama + Respiratory Sciences course, as it is one of the most effective tools for self-healing. This can be taken as an add-on to the above certification or deep dive into the heart of breath work: luminaries, anatomy, science and more. See below for brief example outline. You can join in person or watch recordings. It is encourage you join LIVE as much as possible. Details below.

 

WHY GET CERTIFIED IN PRANAYAMA & MEDITATION, even if you’re not a yoga teacher? (You can also opt out of certification): Respiratory sciences, meditation and pranayama are allies in our collective mental wellness and are being integrated into many workplaces beyond yoga studios. Knowing how to skillfully integrate tools will help your offerings as a coach, parent, guide, mentor, teacher, dula/midwife, therapist, bodyworker. Breath and meditation are some of the most accessible tools regardless of age, fitness, persons with disabilities; foundational for nervous system self-regulation, sleep and overall wellness. Yet so many don’t know how due to trauma, illness, even culture. This requires an embodiment of the practices (self-study) and a strong foundation of science in order to be a skillful guide. What NOT to do is as important as teaching what to do.

About Julia: I am currently studying my Masters of Neuroscience at Kings College London, and have my B.Ed in Kinesiology (and Art History!) from McGill. I have graduated over 800 teachers from my school and have taught yoga, pranayama and meditation for twenty years. My first respected teacher in the passing of pranayama wisdom was Sri Tiwari Ji, a leading authority in pranayama and direct disciple of late Swami Kuvalayanandaji, founder of Kaivalyadhama, a pioneer institute in the field of scientific research in yoga. I have taught extensively in pranayama, nervous system and mental health, neuroendocrine system, digestive, lymphatic and respiratory systems.

    d) Have tried pranayama/breath-work/meditation before.

    These courses will be registered with my school via The Yoga Alliance and can contribute to continuing education credits. However, you do not have to be a yoga teacher to attend.
