MEET JULIA
When I was asked years ago by a business coach, "Who is your ideal client?", I answered, "I don’t have one!" I find this mindset limiting; the whole point of my work is to welcome and educate anyone who is willing and open. Whether it’s 1:1 work, students I’m training, or my digital studio, together we use top-down strategies (cognitive, brain-based, and self-study/studentship) as well as bottom-up practices (from your body, yoga/somatics, and breathwork to inform your brain) — so you feel like yourself again - or better. Like a software upgrade, it is necessary in our busy world to tend to all the parts of us.
Hi, I’m Julia. In 2020, after two decades of training teachers in yoga from Hong Kong to Canada, I completed my post-grad education in Neuroscience, Psych & Mental Health from KCL. I now train others how to integrate neuro-informed skills into their work, business skills & life
After graduating from McGill with a degree in Kinesiology/Art History (I know, weird combo, but very me) - I lived in Whistler, BC and was a professional ski bum for over a decade. During those years, I helped build a community that I'll forever cherish: an unassuming studio tucked into the second floor of an industrial building where some of Whistler's finest athletes and icons joined us. I also lived in Hong Kong for three years studying and teaching under the wisdom and friendship of Patrick Creelman (whom I'm forever indebted to).
Through both communities - and with the knowledge of what makes a human brain happy, I've learned there are three factors that drive "success": Purpose, belonging/community and the skill of self-regulation. Our "work" together includes all three. Whether it's my online community (who still show up every day at 7am with me!) or when I teach in person, I cherish all relationships and your investment. The neuroscience of leadership reminds us that all relationships are defined when two or more nervous systems are meeting each other; people will remember the way you make them FEEL - and this begins with the work we do on the inside.
My work is the nexus of neuroscience, meditative philosophy and comprehensive courses & practices people actually use.

“I wouldn't be the teacher I am today without working 1:1 with Julia. She has a wonderful way of being both warm and highly practical. Whether you're a teacher or simply looking to become better acquainted with yourself, Julia will help you tap into strengths you didn't even know you had."
—LISA Z, CALGARY
"My 1:1 sessions with Julia were life changing. Over the course of 1 year, Julia's knowledge and guidance around the connection between mental health, neuroscience and the body - changed how I show up for life on a daily basis. She helped me find joy again and encouraged me to stay grounded in the pillars I need to live a joyful life. I always felt safe with her and am so grateful for our time together. She is amazing at what she does!"

"In short your studio has made an amazing and unexpected difference for my niece and her PCD respiratory condition. It is unbelievable and a testament to the powerful effects for physical and mental health. By deciding to do your online studio and to create a focus on breath classes specifically - it has impacted her life in such a positive way and there is much more hope for her future."

"Thank you for this 8-week meditation series - it is changing my life. I'm noticing I crave the breath work and have observed a difference in my emotional state. There is something in this work that supports grief processing as well - this series truly has been a life saver as I integrate the loss of my Mom."

"Julia is an exceptional teacher. She has an acute ability of presenting concepts of ancient philosophy & modern neuroscience in one sentence, while making them both incredibly relevant and very accessible to grasp. Julia's inquiry into mindfulness matches her curiosity for getting to know her students, with an approach of kindness, acceptance, and a dash of humor. She is a gift!"
