Three-Module Course Description: This three-part series is for lifelong learners, yoga teachers, healthcare professionals, leaders in conscious-led business and parents seeking to integrate holistic science, somatic movement/yoga, and mental health expertise into their work and life. This three-part program also addresses a response to our ever-evolving global mental health crisis. We will explore how we can transmute crisis into wellness through body movement/sweat/energy/breath/intention, education and protocols for common challenges in the body-mind-brain.
We begin seaside on the Caribbean in Saint Lucia, module two in Vancouver and online for the last module. You have the option to complete one or all three modules for the full 300hr certification- with 100% virtual for those who can’t travel or if we reach capacity in-person.
We will spend time each module exploring the nexus of yoga, the body-breath and somatic ways we can release tension. Anticipate both intense, sweaty AND restorative yogic methods with a focus on slower therapeutics (not just “flow” yoga). We will also dive deep into advanced breathwork, mindfulness-based stress reduction principles and techniques, meditation and the latest neuroscience-based protocols for mental turbulences and physical challenges. *Tentative curriculums are also below (scroll down).
There will be a continuous blending of ancient technique and modern-day relevance and inquiry. For example, What is dopamine? Where does it come from? Why should we know about it as yoga teachers/as leaders/parents? How can we modulate it as a teacher/leader? What are some common disorders that impairs it? How might it affect someone’s ability to be present or stable? How is it related to addiction, ADHD…? What is a breathwork or yoga sequence that could help it? What is important to know what NOT teach?.
The Why? The neuroscience and understanding of mood disorders began when I observed a deficiency in many yoga trainings, including my own: the foundational knowledge of mental health issues (and informed-tools to help) that so many students arrive to yoga with. I went back to school in 2021 to study neuroscience, psychology and mental health in order to tend to what I was feeling as a responsibility as a facilitator. My yoga knowledge could only go so far when it came to students with neuro-diversities, anxiety, loneliness, depression, stress, grief, – even suicidal ideation. This next layer became both necessary and compelling to study. And I hope you find this exciting to dive into as well.
The wellness industry is also projected an economic growth of an upwards of nine trillion dollars by 2028 – reflecting the demand and interest in tools and techniques for our mind-body-brain health. You are a part of this movement. It is essential that as leaders that we are well-practiced in our own body’s first, create robustness in our own body-brain-mind connection and are interested in helping others do the same. It is essential that you arrive with an open mind, are keen to study and that you are individual who is excited to learn with others.
MODULE THEMES & TENTATIVE CURRICULUMS:
*If you intend on being certified, you will need to participate in all three modules. However, joining one module is also an option. This course can be done fully online as well. The maximum number of students will be seven students in Saint Lucia due to space. * YOU WILL NEED TO ATTEND & COMPLETE ALL THREE MODULES FOR THE 300HR CERTIFICATION.
MODULE ONE: THE BODY & METHODS: SOMATIC SWEAT, EMBODIMENT & YOGA THERAPY:
MARCH 1-8, 2026, SAINT LUCIA, CARIBBEAN = 66-75 HRS
- A maximum of seven participants is available in Saint Lucia due to rooms available. If there is spillover specific for 300hr registrants who cannot attend, parts of this training WILL be filmed if necessary for 300hr only purposes and for students seeking certification. The curriculum is estimated around 66-75hrs and includes some non-contact homework as well:
- 2-3 hour daily practice of breathwork, movement, sweaty somatic practices & meditation (morning) & 1-2 hours in the evening before or after dinner.
- The movement component will be both yoga & ‘Somatic Sweat” a method inspired by contemporaneous teachers in wellness.
- The method of “Somatic/Cathartic Sweat”. This is a technique of movement that addresses cardiovascular health and its relationship to somatic release, embodiment (what is embodiment?) neuroplasticity, mood regulation & brain health.
- The nervous system and brain 101 will be taught during this module as well in relationship to the yoga and somatic movement.
- Yoga therapeutics, common injuries & prevention: You will also be taught and will experience 2-3 specific sequences addressing yoga therapeutics in common problem areas: the hips & pelvis, thorax & shoulders and the spine. These sequences will be both more intense flow as well as restorative in nature.
- Even if your goal isn’t to teach, practice teaching will be introduced in small steps along the way in order to integrate and accelerate the learning process. This is mandatory. Having to teach something is the BEST way to learn it. This is a technique in pedagogy. It will be a safe space to make “mistakes”. I will gently challenge you.
- You will receive manual(s) and supportive material for this module.
- It’s also important that you ENJOY your time in paradise! There will be space to swim, snorkel and explore the area. Read more below regarding the food, the view & the UNESCO preservation of ocean we will be next to.
- This module will count towards YACEP credits as well if you are interested in obtaining official certification

- This is both in-person as well as streamed live / recorded for those of you who cannot make it in person.
- The maximum will be six students in-person due to space limitations in Vancouver, BC.
- This module will focus on the brain and neuroscience component and its integration in our current era.
- Subjects include the brain 101, neurotransmitters & neuromodulators 101, the limbic system, theories in psychology and mental health (i.e like the The Polyvagal Theory, its limitations and truths),

- Your input and practice teaching of the material in order for the material to stick, even if you aren’t a teacher.
- Exploration of esoteric teachings like the Kosha Theory, embodiment work, and relatability to modern day challenges
- How do you teach this into your yoga? Or how do you integrate it into your life or workspace?
- Seminal research examples to support this work.
- Protocols for common life experiences like depression, anxiety, grief, what is stress -really? and more….
- This module will count towards YACEP credits as well if you are interested in obtaining official certification

TEACHING FACULTY:
Lead teacher: Julia McCabe: Julia’s love for teaching and mentoring began while she watched her mom, dad and big sister teach in their unique ways – it is in her blood. She offers a blend of her education in Kinesiology in Montreal, Quebec at McGill University, to her current studies in Neuroscience, Psychology and Mental Health at King’s College, London. She has lived in Hong Kong teaching full time under the tutelage of many teachers and friends including Patrick Creelman, held trainings in ten different countries and graduated and taught thousands of students. Students have included health care workers, doctors, body workers, nurses, parents, business coaches, mentors – all ages, shapes, sizes.
- Currently completing a Masters of Neuroscience, Psychology & Mental Health, King’s College, London, UK
- B.Ed in Kinesiology, McGill University, Montreal
- Current faculty member and professor at Rhodes College, Vancouver, BC
- Julia McCabe Yoga is an official school registered with the Yoga Alliance, currently offering 30, 50 200 and 300HR level trainings locally and internationally as well as Continuing Education credits (YACEP)
- ERYT- 500 Certified Teacher (Yoga Alliance)
Teaching Assistant, Jayme Raycraft (Crafting Resilience). Jayme has completed her 240 (VSOHA) & 300hr training (Julia McCabe Wellness) and her undergraduate degree in Psychology: “For as long as I can remember, anxiety has been a companion of mine. It was this truth that guided me to study psychology. After graduating, I soon realized that working the field in its classic sense felt incomplete. It seemed to me that more often than not, we were treating our clients’ symptoms, never tapping into their true roots. Throughout this time, I had built a consistent yoga practice and was beginning to notice something – a gradual shift in my physiology; a growing toolkit of practical skills to overcome my omni-present anxiety. This inspired me to deepen my studies of yoga by completing my first teacher training in 2023. Since then, I have been on a mission to bring these same tools for healing and resilience to as many people as possible.”
COMMON Q & A
I’m not a yoga teacher nor intend to be one, can I still take this training or the 30hr training? Yes. 80% of participants often take these trainings to contribute to their current line of work and/or to their own health and self-development.
I’ve never been to Saint Lucia before, what will the weather be like? March weather is averaged to be 29° / 23° (73-85 F)
Where do I fly into Saint Lucia? Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) in Vieux Fort is located 40 miles south of Castries, the capital city. George F.L. Charles Airport is an inter-island airport just outside Castries.
Will someone pick me up and drop me off at the airport? Yes, a driver will be arranged for $75 USD per person per way.
Does my tuition fee include my flight? No. However, currently flights range from $900 – $1300 CAD return to Vancouver, for example. I find great deals at momondo.com/ca
Does Saint Lucia consider dietary restrictions/allergies? Yes, there is onsite chef who will organize our meals. If you have any allergies or restrictions please let us know in advance so we can adapt in advance! Anticipate a nutritious week of supportive food.
What kind of food will we eat in Saint Lucia? Food is everything! It is important that our meals are something we look forward to after a big day of movement and group work. The food will be nourishing, savory, tasty – but also intentionally anti-inflammatory to support our brain and body health. For example, yummy vegetarian, plenty of fruits, nuts, grains, fish/protein options as well.
Can I drink alcohol during our training? No. I ask that everyone exercise a week of sobriety during our training to support the intention of the training. I also ask that there is no-smoking/vaping/recreational drugs during our week together as well. As well during our time in Vancouver.
Where in Vancouver is our in-person session for the week? Out of my home studio in Lions Bay. I will release the address to registered participants a week before we begin!
How many people can attend each module in person? Saint Lucia, a maximum of seven students. Vancouver, a max of six. And online, unlimited student space.
Can I do all three modules online? Yes, a tuition fee for all three modules online only is available. You will receive the classes within a timely framework so to study concurrently with us. There will be livestream as well as classes uploaded to a student portal.
Can I pay for my tuition fees via Visa or e-transfer? Both is fine!
Can I receive financial aid? Many students have been supported by their employers in the past as this program can count as continuing education and is registered via the Yoga Alliance. Small loans are also available often to students via your local bank.
Will this help my yoga teaching if I am a current teacher? Yes. However, it will be less about “How to teach an advanced Warrior Two or Handstand variation.” The practices will be challenging at times but always taught from a therapeutic lens and the application of the anatomy, embodiment and the holistic sciences we are learning about. If you are looking for a classic straight up yoga teacher training with traditional (i.e Iyengar asana) this training will have an intentionally different approach. Alignment and yoga therapeutics WILL be taught but it won’t be our only point of focus. We will be doing somatic movement, sweaty movements, embodiment work and breathwork/meditation as well.
How many teacher trainings and courses like this have you led? I have organized and led over 30 teacher trainings like this all over the world and from Nicaragua, Italy, India, Mexico, Bali and more – since 2009. I have graduated well over 1000 students from my trainings since 2010.
How many people typically attend these trainings? I have had as few as five students attend a training, and as many as thirty.
Do you have payment plans? YES! Payment plans can be personally arranged. Please email juliamariemccabe@gmail.com discuss
Are you strict with cancellation fees? YES! I like to be transparent with this as event planning can be tenuous! There is an initial non-refundable deposit to hold your spot of $500 USD and certain deadlines for payments where there will be no refunds. This will be clearly emailed to you upon your YES! This policy is due to limited spaces, planning and respect for other registrants and business acumen. Please read the cancellation and refund policy carefully to prevent any disappointment or future unknowns.
Can we set up a call or a Zoom to ask more questions? Yes. TO CHAT AND/OR REGISTER, PLEASE EMAIL: JULIAMARIEMCCABE@GMAIL.COM
